A branch of the Territoire de Belfort departmental multimedia library, the Espace multimedia gantner media library is the multimedia pole of the departmental network
( 33 libraries that can come to borrow Cdroms ).
Since November 2006 the Espace multimedia gantner has opened for loan purposes its documentary collection specifically dedicated to art and new technologies.This collection offers more than 8500 references classified into 3 axes : art, society and multimedia.
In the Art section can be found a wide selection of audio CDs, Cdroms and artists’ monographs, as well as written documents, critical and theoretical, on plastic arts, sound, picture and digital art.
The Society axis encompasses classical human science works and documents relating to science and new technologies.This sector inclludes most of the critical thinkers of liberalism and globalisation ( Haraway, Butler, Rancière, Badiou, Balibar, Negri, Agamben, Zizek ).
As for the multimedia axis, it offers a wide panel of technical works and Cdroms linked to the theme of the collection. Péguy said « A poet who is renowned, understood, classified and labelled, who lies in print somewhere in the sterile library of l’Ecole Normale and who is to be found nowhere else, nor cherished in someone’s heart, is a dead poet » The multimedia libaray’s team is sensitive to these words and strive to make this a living place, incarnated and ceaselessly in contact / in accordance with both artists and public ( reader, listener, internaut, visitor … )
